Dear Steven

I am writing this letter to say a huge thanks for coming to camp kaitawa with my class. You helped a lot in the kitchen cooking the meals dishing up the food onto the plates, Keeping us safe on the walks to make sure we didn’t fall in any holes at lou’s lookout and helping in the caves by encouraging the people who needed some help climbing and walking down steep hills.

My highlight for camp was the dark activities especially the caving, I loved the last cave with the bat poo and we had the shimmy across the wall and jump to the ladder, Did you think the bat poo stunk the entire cave? It was funny watching some people explore the bat poo.

My second highlight was master chef. It was challenging at first but I picked it up pretty fast. My tribe cooked a meat pattie on some chips with carrots surrounding the meat pattie. Murray did not know but we put some secret chill powder and hot pepper in the pattie. It might of been cheating but  he liked it.

Did you know that lake waikaremoana was formed 2200 years ago, A landslide caused the big chunks of sandstone went flying across the sky landing on top of each other causing  gaps in between making the onepoto caves. Here's an interesting fact about the urewera region, 180 million years ago the urewera region was on the seabed. The was raised by the Pacific and indo australian tectonic plates colliding and causing it to rise. Te urewera national park is 2120 square km-largest in the North island and the 4th largest in new zealand. It has the largest remaining native forest in the North island.

Many thanks

My Special Place

MY SPECIAL PLACE

My special place is a place hidden away from the world a peaceful spot. A place where you could yell at the top of your lungs and the sound of your voice would slowly eco away and disappear. As the massive mountains surround I feel as if a in a giant pit. The bush seems to stretch for miles. At night we go for walks around the gravel track as we hunt for possums and look for moreporks.
The wide river flows gently along side the tall cliff, on the other side of the river the huge boulders must of fallen down from the cliff they look as if they have been there for centuries. The trout jump and leap like they are trying to put on a show for me, the big slimy eels play hide and seek among the jagged rocks as they hunt for food. The raging rapids power over big rocks as they gobble up anything in its path.

The tall  mountains have people climbing them like little ants all over an half eaten hot dog. People who scale those mountains must be trained professionals and must of climbed essayer mountains. The jagged rock face have little hand holds. There are platforms where you could rest or hang a hammock and put up a stretcher. The mountains look very difficult to climb and a landslide could strike without warning. At the top lies a small green flag, I guess that it is some sort of highest land point kind of thing.

The helicopter's roar over the sky as they take people up river so they can kayak back down. The helicopter pad is a small patch of mown grass, the long grass that surrounds the pad seems to look like it will blow away as the chopper takes off. Massive storage compartments are on each side of the chopper to fit kayaks and bags in. As it takes off it sways back and forth in the wind and speeds of up river like a lion chasing its prey . This place is very very beautiful it takes me away from the world whenever I come here.

My special place is a beautiful camping site called kuripapango.

Comparing Pandas and Cheetahs
Introduction
Cheetahs and Pandas may seem not alike at all but there are lots and lots of things that are similar about them
Similarities
Both Pandas and Cheetahs are a member of the animal kingdom. The animal kingdom is all of the different species of animals; insects are not a part of the animal kingdom. All of the animals in the animal kingdom need food and water and they also have bones on the inside (vertebrates).

Both the Pandas and the Cheetahs are mammals. Mammals are a section in the animal kingdom. The others are : Reptiles, Fish and birds. Mammals are the only section in the animal kingdom that give birth to live young. The rest of the sections lay eggs.
Panda
Pandas live on 99% bamboo and other foods like sugar cane, rice gruel, carrots, apples and sweet potato. Pandas eat approximately 9-18 kg (20-40 Pounds) of bamboo per day.

Pandas are a member of the bear family ; the bear family is all the different species of bears around. Here are some different species of bears : Grizzly Bear, Brown bear and Black Bear. Most of the bear family are carnivores ; carnivores are animals that only eat meat. Not all of the bear family are carnivores ; Pandas are the only member of the bear family that do not eat meat.
Cheetah
Cheetah’s are the fastest land animal on earth. A Cheetah's top speed is around 110-120 Km/h ; its normal speed is 50-60 Km/h ; But the Antelope is so so close to beating the Cheetah.

Cheetahs are a member of the cat family. The cat family is all of the different cats from around the world ; The others are : Lion, Leopard and pet cats .The Cheetah's closest relation is the Leopards.

Olympic PBl Blog Post

Welcome back to my blog and today I will be showing you my Olympic PBL project. I chose to make a model of a pole vault stadium my original plan was to make a 20 interesting fact video about pole vaulting and Eliza McCartney the New Zealand pole vaulter. At Rio 2016 she won a bronze medal and at the end of 2015 she set a junior pole vault world record clearing 4.80m.
SEE YOU IN THE NEXT BLOG POST!!!

OLYMPIC PBL REFLECTION
Project Topic:

Photo/Screenshot of Project (insert below)
FullSizeRender.jpg

Finish these starters:
  • Something I enjoyed about my project was the painting because I really enjoy painting and it makes me happy

  • The most challenging thing about my project was choosing the main point of the project because it was hard make a decision

  • The main skill I got better at was hot glue gunning I got better at it by gluing Straightly

  • Something interesting I learnt was Eliza McCartney holds the Junior World pole vault record

  • What I would most like to change about my project is The whole thing because It seemed too easy

  • I would like to do my next PBL Make an athletics Stadium

Choose three learning muscles and explain how you used them during your PBL.
I use my collaboration muscle when I was working with others to paint.
I use my interdependence muscle When I help some other people paint and they help me with the supplies for my project
I Used my imitation muscle When I saw some people making Gymnastics stadiums and soccer stadiums out of cardboard

Rally at my dads/ holidays

The Rally at Dads

On Sunday the middle weekend of the holidays the rotorua rally took place at tech park my Dad was co-driver for his friend Chris they where number 3 Chris's friend Wayne was looking after me when dad was off on the rally . Chris's son Max was competing as well  as number 13. The first stage came when I was waiting it got very very boring because you couldn't go off and watch the rally because it would be a very very long walk and we had to stay and help the pit crew. It was time for the first service they came in and we changed the tiers and checked the pressure and there they where off on another stage. I had bought a hot chocolate with the $20 dollars my dad gave me. Wayne took me to over to where the cars pass bye, on a spectator corner. When dad came passed he waved we waited and waited for max to come pass but he never. We started to walk back slowly we where worried about max. About 3 hours later max was back but dad wasn't I started to get scared. Max's younger brother Jared,me and Wayne went off to find them. We went down the road a little to a forestry gate where there were some safety cars and ambulace luckly dad was okay but I still haden't seen him yet. We went back down the road to the pit's we where waiting and waiting finaly we got some news and I could go see dad.
